![]() ![]() It has a nice pace to it, very scarce resources, a quite moody setting that opens up in the wilderness. Also it was my very first custom story, so it had that going for me. Maybe because I finished it at around 4 am in my teenage years and got absolutely terrified, albeit still loving the experience. With that out of the way, I remember it being better than it actually is. Glad to see my Spanish Duolingo lessons helped somewhat. Oh young me… just because “casa” and “caza” look similar doesn’t mean they’re the same thing. It does not deserve the place it currently holds. Suffice to say, the only laughs had were ones of pity. But damn, this is literally "Shitpost: The Custom Story". ![]() Yes, rage comics are still funny, at least the good ones. I get it: it was the internet culture at the time. I hate you all for even allowing this crap on the top. I'm actually not gonna even bother reviewing this. Absolute stellar work and one that kept me going further and further, as I couldn't wait what expected me next.įollowing Moddb’s top, I installed this one as the second mod in my custom run. It’s no wonder it got the “Mod of the Year” award at ModdB and got a mention from Frictional. Loved the references, but most importantly the very clear inspiration it took from Silent Hill and how different the mod looks from regular Amnesia: it feels like an entire new game altogether, merely based on the same engine. With that out of the way… everything else is bloody fantastic! Yes, few monsters are one of the common complaints, but this is a narrative driven, atmospheric mod and it makes a darn good job at it! It has the exact, perfect amount of scares and spooks, as well as excellent pacing. Also, a few backtracking sections were annoying. Those elements were what at the time turned me off the game. The creators even got rid of the very useful blue tint vision that you get when enveloped in darkness. Also, even today I feel that this mod is way too dark. I remember having tried it out as teen, but eventually quitting since some of the puzzles felt so obscure (but in fact it was just teen me being a dumbass). Perhaps one of the best custom stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. Some of them I still remember the names, others I've actually played in the past, but not necessarily completed until now. I'll try to keep the reviews as short as possible and will focus on the top names. Suffice to say, it's going to take a while, so this is merely one part. Given that I completely forgot about this game and only replay it (mostly Gary Snowy Secrets), for some reason I felt like going through the top catalogue, what the community at ModdB and Steam think as best of the best when it comes to Amnesia mods.
